COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Chemistry program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills across all branches of chemistry. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through core modules in introductory chemistry, energy and change, coordination chemistry, structure and reactivity, analytical chemistry, biological chemistry, and practical laboratory work, alongside opportunities to study mathematics for chemistry and fundamentals of management. Year two deepens this knowledge with core physical chemistry, group theory, inorganic chemistry, organic synthesis, structure and reactivity of organic molecules, spectroscopy, analytical chemistry, and practical laboratory experience, while allowing exploration of contemporary themes in chemistry. In the third year, students consolidate their learning through advanced core chemistry modules and practical training, and can personalise their studies with optional units such as materials chemistry, bioorganic and medicinal chemistry, biosynthesis and bioenergetics, and other specialised topics. The course emphasizes the development of research skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, providing students with hands-on experience in modern chemical laboratories. By integrating theoretical study with experimental practice and optional specialised units, the BSc Chemistry program prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in scientific research, industry, education, and further study at the postgraduate level, ensuring strong employability and a deep understanding of modern chemistry.
