COURSE CURRICULUM

The BNurs Adult Nursing program combines academic study with extensive clinical experience, preparing students for professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge in public health, anatomy and physiology, and evidence-based nursing practice while developing essential skills through simulated and real-world clinical placements. Collaborative care planning and values-based nursing are also introduced, fostering a holistic understanding of patient-centered care. The second year builds on this foundation, deepening understanding of applied biosciences, clinical reasoning, and the development of nursing knowledge and skills. Students continue to gain hands-on experience through multiple clinical placements, covering diverse settings and patient groups, including mental health, dementia care, critical and intensive care, tissue viability, and palliative care. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of theory with practice, equipping students to respond effectively to complex patient needs. In the third year, students focus on leadership, evidence-based practice, and facilitation of learning, preparing them for roles that require autonomy, critical thinking, and management skills. Advanced clinical placements consolidate practical expertise, while optional modules explore the social and political context of health and social care. Graduates leave the program ready to contribute to high-quality adult nursing, demonstrating professional competence, clinical insight, and ethical practice in a range of healthcare environments.
