COURSE CURRICULUM

The BMidwif Midwifery program provides a comprehensive and structured pathway for students to develop the essential knowledge, skills, and professional competence required for a career in midwifery. In the first year, students focus on foundational learning, including professional midwifery principles, anatomy and physiology, microbiology and pharmacology, and universal care during pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period, alongside their initial practice experiences. Year two builds on these foundations with more advanced practice, emphasizing evidence-based midwifery, additional care provision, and teamwork in maternity services. Students continue to develop practical skills through supervised placements, integrating theoretical knowledge with real-world clinical practice. In the final year, the program emphasizes scholarly leadership, health promotion, and excellence in midwifery practice, enabling students to consolidate their clinical competence and professional judgment. The course includes extensive practice placements, ensuring that students gain hands-on experience in diverse settings, while developing the ability to provide continuity of care. Graduates complete the program with the skills to assess, plan, and deliver safe, high-quality care for women, newborns, and families, and are prepared for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. The program also provides opportunities to enhance professional development, leadership, and evidence-based practice skills, producing confident and reflective practitioners ready to meet the demands of modern maternity care.
