COURSE CURRICULUM

The BEng Chemical Engineering course at Manchester provides a comprehensive education in the principles and practice of chemical engineering, combining theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation with core modules including Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Chemistry, Process Fluid Flow, Process Engineering Fundamentals, Computational Methods, Thermodynamics, and Heat Transfer, alongside Laboratory Projects and a Chemical Engineering Design Project to develop practical and analytical skills. Year 2 deepens this knowledge with advanced topics such as Engineering Mathematics 3, Chemical Engineering Optimisation, Distillation and Absorption, Process Integration, Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer, Chemical Reactor Design, Process Safety, Materials Science and Mechanical Design, and Process Design and Simulation, complemented by Laboratory Projects 2. Year 3 focuses on integrating and applying knowledge through a series of BEng Design Projects and specialised modules, including Multi-Component Engineering Separations, Process Control, Catalytic Reaction Engineering, Process Synthesis, Process Design, Sustainable Development and Industry, and Batch Processing.
