COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Social Sciences Politics and Data Analytics program combines political and social theory with practical training in data analysis, equipping students to understand, evaluate, and influence societal and political issues using quantitative methods. In the first year, students develop foundational skills in social research, applied statistics, and the study of inequalities, while exploring optional modules in criminology, psychology, and development studies. Core learning focuses on understanding political and social systems, as well as introducing students to analytical tools that allow them to interpret complex data. In the second year, students build on these skills with modules in survey design, statistical modelling, and advanced data analysis, alongside optional criminology and philosophy courses, enabling them to apply theory to real-world contexts. The final year emphasizes practical application, with mandatory modules in statistical modelling to answer social research questions, complemented by optional modules covering criminology, criminal justice, and spatial data analysis through GIS. Across all three years, the program encourages critical thinking, interdisciplinary perspectives, and hands-on experience with data, preparing students to identify trends, evaluate policy, and conduct evidence-based research. Graduates leave with a robust combination of political insight, social science understanding, and data analytical expertise, ready for careers in government, research, consultancy, policy analysis, and other data-driven roles.
