COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics and Politics degree provides a comprehensive understanding of economic and political systems, combining rigorous training in microeconomics and macroeconomics with the study of political theory and social sciences. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in economic principles, political thought, and social perspectives, alongside optional modules in finance, development studies, and mathematics, establishing both analytical and quantitative skills. The second year expands these competencies through further exploration of political theory, financial management, accounting, and investment analysis, allowing students to apply economic reasoning to real-world political and financial contexts. In the final year, students have the opportunity to specialise in advanced financial and corporate topics, including international finance, financial derivatives, corporate governance, auditing, and financial engineering, while continuing to integrate political analysis and critical thinking. Throughout the course, students develop skills in quantitative analysis, data interpretation, and policy evaluation, preparing them to understand complex interactions between economic systems, political institutions, and global markets. The program equips graduates for careers in finance, government, international organisations, consultancy, research, and policy-making, providing the theoretical knowledge and practical expertise needed to navigate the challenges of modern economic and political environments and to contribute effectively to evidence-based decision-making in public and private sectors.
