COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics and Philosophy program combines rigorous study in economics with analytical and philosophical perspectives, providing students with a broad understanding of social, economic, and ethical issues. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in microeconomics and macroeconomics while exploring the role of power and value in society through social science perspectives. Optional units in finance, financial reporting, development studies, and mathematics allow students to tailor their learning and develop quantitative, analytical, and practical skills. In the second year, students expand their understanding of finance and accounting, with optional units covering investment analysis, financial statement analysis, management accounting, financial markets, and business law, enabling them to apply economic principles to real-world financial contexts. The third year focuses on advanced applications of finance, accounting, and corporate governance, with options including international finance, financial derivatives, advanced corporate finance, contemporary issues in financial reporting, accountability and auditing, and corporate law. Throughout the program, students gain critical thinking and quantitative skills while learning to evaluate complex economic and financial phenomena. The combination of economics, finance, and philosophical reasoning equips graduates to interpret data, assess policies, and address ethical considerations, preparing them for careers in finance, policy, business, law, and research, or for further postgraduate study.
