COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Economics, Accounting and Finance program provides a comprehensive curriculum that integrates economics, accounting, finance, and social sciences to prepare students for careers in business, finance, and policy. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through mandatory modules including Financial Reporting, Introductory Management Accounting, Financial Decision Making, Microeconomics 1 and 2, Macroeconomics 1 and 2, and Power and Value: Perspectives from Social Sciences. Optional modules such as An Introduction to Development Studies and Introductory Mathematics allow students to tailor their learning and strengthen quantitative and contextual skills. The second year focuses on advanced accounting and finance topics with core modules like Investment Analysis, Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Reporting and Accountability, Intermediate Management Accounting, and Foundations of Finance, complemented by optional modules such as Financial Markets and Institutions, Mergers and Acquisitions, FinTech, Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies, Business Law, and Development Studies. In the third year, students can specialise further with optional modules covering contemporary financial issues and corporate governance, including Contemporary Issues in Financial Reporting and Regulation, International Finance, Share Prices and Accounting Information, Financial Derivatives, Advanced Corporate Finance, Accountability and Auditing, Empirical Finance, and Corporate Governance in Context. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, equipping graduates with analytical, decision-making, and professional skills essential for careers in accounting, finance, economics, and related fields.
