COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Philosophy program provides students with a comprehensive exploration of the central questions in philosophy, covering topics such as reality, knowledge, ethics, religion, and the mind. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through core modules in studying philosophy and critical thinking, while also having the option to explore ethics, history of philosophy, metaphysics, and philosophy of mind. This year equips students with the analytical and reasoning skills essential for philosophical inquiry. In the second year, the curriculum expands to include both historical and contemporary approaches, with optional modules in British empiricism, 20th-century analytical philosophy, philosophy of science, existentialism, philosophy of religion, applied philosophy, philosophy of race, and formal logic. This enables students to develop a deeper understanding of key philosophical traditions and apply critical thinking to real-world and theoretical issues. The third year emphasizes independent research and specialization, offering opportunities to undertake a dissertation and explore advanced topics such as philosophy of law, philosophy of language, metaphysics, environmental philosophy, philosophy of action, and studies of individual thinkers like Wittgenstein. The program fosters intellectual curiosity, logical reasoning, and effective communication, preparing students for careers in law, public policy, education, research, or any field where analytical and critical thinking are valued, within a supportive academic environment.
