COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Psychology program is structured over three years and provides a comprehensive understanding of psychological theories, research methods, and real-world applications. In Year 1, students are introduced to core areas such as mental health, brain and behaviour, research methods, and contemporary issues in psychology, alongside developing an understanding of individuals and professional applications of psychology. Year 2 builds on this foundation with more advanced topics including neuroscience of behaviour, lifespan development, personality and individual differences, social and critical psychology, cognitive psychology, and mixed methods research, helping students deepen their analytical and research skills. In Year 3, the focus shifts towards practical experience and independent study through modules such as work-based learning, mental health and wellbeing, and a dissertation, where students conduct their own research project. Students also have the opportunity to choose optional modules, which may include subjects from related fields such as law, criminology, and policing, as well as specialised psychology topics like cyber psychology. This flexibility allows students to tailor their learning to their interests and career goals. Overall, the course combines theoretical knowledge, research expertise, and practical experience to prepare students for a range of professional careers or further academic study.
