COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Project Management with Advanced Practice programme combines advanced project management education with practical industry or research experience to prepare graduates for leadership roles across engineering, information technology, construction, manufacturing, telecommunications, energy and related industries. The Advanced Practice module is undertaken over one semester and provides students with valuable real-world experience through vocational internships with external organisations, research or development internships within the university, or employer-led projects based on campus. Students receive preparatory support for applications and are assigned an academic supervisor who provides guidance throughout the internship period. Assessment is based on a reflective report and is graded on a pass or fail basis without contributing to the final degree classification. The Advanced Project Planning and Visualisation module develops expertise in project scheduling, multi-constraint planning techniques and advanced 4D visualisation technologies used in modern engineering projects. The Engineering Research Project enables students to undertake independent research focused on sustainability or clean energy challenges, applying advanced analytical and research methods to produce industry-relevant solutions. Managing Projects with PRINCE2® introduces one of the world's leading project governance frameworks, covering project structures, processes, documentation and implementation strategies through practical team-based assessments. Procurement and Contract Strategies develops knowledge of procurement methods, contract strategies and legal principles used in sectors such as construction, oil and gas, manufacturing and civil engineering. Project Management Philosophies and Tools examines contemporary project management frameworks and methodologies that support organisational success and business growth. Risk Management in Projects provides advanced knowledge of risk identification, analysis, planning and monitoring, alongside practical experience using the professional @RISK® software for Monte Carlo simulations and quantitative risk modelling. The Management of Change module develops understanding of organisational change processes, leadership responsibilities and strategies for successfully implementing and managing change within complex business environments. Graduates develop strong technical, leadership and decision-making capabilities, preparing them for senior project management and consultancy roles worldwide.
