COURSE CURRICULUM

This course structure combines advanced academic learning with practical industry experience to prepare students for leadership roles in project management, engineering and business environments. The Advanced Practice module provides an opportunity to gain real-world professional experience through vocational internships with external organisations, research or development internships on campus and employer-led projects that align with students' skills, interests and career goals. Students receive guidance throughout the placement process and are supported by an academic supervisor who provides academic and pastoral assistance during the internship period. The Advanced Project Planning and Visualisation module develops expertise in engineering project planning, emerging planning technologies, multi-constraint scheduling techniques and advanced 4D visualisation methods that improve project coordination and decision-making. Through the Big Data and Business Intelligence module, students gain practical experience in designing and implementing databases, analytics applications and business intelligence systems while studying data warehouses, large-scale databases, legacy system integration and data visualisation techniques. The Engineering Research Project allows students to conduct independent research addressing sustainability or clean energy challenges while applying advanced research methods and technical analysis to create industry-focused solutions. Managing Projects with PRINCE2® introduces students to a globally recognised project governance framework, focusing on project structures, processes, documentation and governance practices through collaborative project work and team-based assessments. Procurement and Contract Strategies develops understanding of procurement methods, contract strategies and legal frameworks commonly used in engineering sectors including construction, production and oil and gas industries. Risk Management in Projects provides advanced knowledge of risk identification, probability theory, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, financial risk assessment and decision-making techniques while offering practical experience with specialist risk management software and industry case studies. The Management of Change module strengthens understanding of business strategy, organisational transformation and people management, preparing graduates to lead change initiatives successfully in complex and evolving organisations.
