COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Information Technology with Advanced Practice is a postgraduate programme designed to develop advanced technical, strategic and professional skills required in modern IT industries. The course covers key areas such as Agile Development, Big Data and Business Intelligence, Cloud Computing and Virtualisation, Cyber Security Principles and Practice, IT Strategy and Digital Transformation, Responsible Artificial Intelligence, and an individual Computing Masters Project based on a real-world or research problem. Students learn how to design and manage cloud infrastructures, analyse large datasets, protect digital systems against cyber threats, implement agile project management approaches, and align technology strategies with business goals. The programme also focuses on the ethical, legal and social implications of artificial intelligence and digital technologies. A major feature of the course is the Advanced Practice module, which provides an opportunity to gain practical experience through a vocational internship with external organisations, a research internship within the university, or employer-led projects. Students receive support from academic supervisors throughout the internship period and complete a reflective report based on their experience. The course is suitable for both students with a computing background and those new to information technology, offering structured support to build technical knowledge progressively.
