COURSE CURRICULUM

This MSc Information Technology with Advanced Practice programme combines advanced technical knowledge, strategic thinking and professional development to prepare graduates for leadership roles in modern digital organisations. The Advanced Practice module provides students with valuable real-world experience through vocational, research or employer-led internships supported by academic supervision, helping to strengthen employability and practical understanding of industry environments. Agile Development introduces students to modern software development methodologies such as SCRUM, enabling them to manage project objectives, team roles, deliverables and schedules while gaining practical experience of collaborative and iterative development processes. Big Data and Business Intelligence develops expertise in databases, analytics, data warehouses, large-scale data management and visualisation techniques that support effective business decision-making. Cloud Computing and Virtualisation explores the technologies behind public, private and hybrid cloud environments, equipping students with the skills required to design scalable, secure and cost-effective enterprise infrastructures using industry-standard platforms and service models. The Computing Masters Project provides an opportunity to undertake an independent investigation into a real commercial, industrial or research problem, producing a substantial technical or research output supported by professional presentation and evaluation. Cyber Security Principles and Practice develops understanding of cyber threats, risk management and security architectures while providing practical experience in identifying vulnerabilities and implementing defensive strategies to protect organisational assets. IT Strategy and Digital Transformation focuses on aligning technology investments with business objectives and leading organisational change through effective digital strategies that encourage innovation, resilience and competitive advantage. Responsible AI for Professional Practice explores the relationship between artificial intelligence and human expertise, examining ethical, legal and social considerations while preparing students to implement AI technologies responsibly and transparently. Together, these modules provide graduates with the knowledge and skills required for careers in information technology management, cyber security, cloud computing, artificial intelligence and digital transformation leadership.
