COURSE CURRICULUM

This FinTech programme with Advanced Practice combines academic study with practical industry experience to prepare students for careers in financial technology, digital banking and business innovation. The Advanced Practice module provides students with valuable opportunities to gain real-world experience through vocational internships with external organisations, research or development internships on campus and employer-led projects aligned with their interests and career ambitions. Students receive preparation and guidance throughout the placement process and are supported by an academic supervisor who provides both academic and pastoral assistance during the internship period. The Big Data and Business Intelligence module develops expertise in designing and implementing databases, analytics applications and big data solutions to support business decision-making and operational efficiency. Students explore large-scale databases, data warehouses, legacy system integration and data visualisation techniques used to generate meaningful business insights. Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and Digital Entrepreneurship examines the disruptive impact of blockchain technology on financial services and explores its applications in payments, insurance, lending, supply chains, securities transactions and smart contracts. Students gain practical understanding of blockchain development tools while studying cryptocurrencies and entrepreneurial opportunities within digital finance. Contemporary Financial Technology focuses on evolving customer expectations, financial inclusion and user experience design in the fintech sector, particularly for underserved populations, while enabling students to design, prototype and critically evaluate innovative financial services. The Masters Project provides an opportunity for independent research and professional development through a work-based or research-focused project tailored to students' interests and career objectives. Software for FinTech introduces Python programming and its application within financial technology and digital innovation, covering programming principles, language structures, libraries and modules widely used in modern financial software development. Together, these modules develop technical expertise, analytical thinking and practical skills that prepare graduates for careers in fintech, blockchain technology, digital payments, financial analytics and technology-driven financial services across the global economy.
