COURSE CURRICULUM

This Computer Science programme provides students with advanced technical knowledge, practical programming skills, and research expertise in areas that are shaping the future of the technology industry. The course begins with Artificial Intelligence Foundations, introducing students to key concepts such as knowledge representation, reasoning, algorithms, problem solving, planning, and the development of intelligent applications and systems. Students further develop specialist skills through Machine Learning, where they explore predictive modelling, probability theory, statistics, inference methods, and learning algorithms that enable systems to learn from data and make accurate predictions in changing environments. The Big Data and Business Intelligence module develops expertise in designing and implementing database systems, analytics solutions, and large-scale data applications while covering topics such as data warehouses, big data technologies, data integration, data management, and data visualisation techniques for business decision-making. Through Object Oriented Development, students gain a strong foundation in Java programming, object-oriented principles, graphical user interface design, software testing, documentation, problem solving, and algorithm development, making the course suitable even for those with limited programming experience. Mobile App Development builds on these skills by teaching students to design, develop, and deploy professional Android applications for smartphones and tablets using industry-standard tools and software development processes. Research Methods equips students with the ability to conduct academic and industrial investigations through literature reviews, research design, data collection techniques, evaluation methods, and research ethics. The programme culminates in a substantial Computing Masters Project where students undertake independent research or industry-focused development work to produce a major deliverable such as software, applications, systems, or research findings. Students may also undertake vocational or research internships, gaining valuable industry experience, professional skills, research exposure, and improved employability for careers in software engineering, artificial intelligence, mobile development, data analytics, and advanced computing industries.
