This Artificial Intelligence programme provides students with advanced knowledge and practical experience in developing intelligent systems and applying artificial intelligence technologies to solve real-world problems across industries such as healthcare, business, finance, and technology. Students begin by studying Artificial Intelligence Foundations, gaining an understanding of core concepts including knowledge representation, reasoning, algorithms, problem solving, planning, and the design of AI applications. The programme develops further expertise through Machine Learning, where students explore predictive modelling, learning algorithms, statistical analysis, probability theory, and inference techniques that enable systems to learn from data and adapt to new situations without explicit programming. Students also study Statistical Methods for Data Analytics, learning practical techniques such as regression analysis, correlation testing, data categorisation, normalisation, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis methods that support research and experimental work. The Intelligent Decision Support Systems module introduces computerised approaches to decision-making using classifications, data mining, and knowledge management techniques, while providing opportunities to design and implement decision support systems for practical applications in business, healthcare, and technology environments. Through Artificial Intelligence Ethics and Applications, students examine the use of AI and data science in areas such as chatbots, virtual assistants, medical diagnosis, fraud detection, biometric recognition, personalised services, and autonomous systems while critically evaluating ethical, social, and security considerations. Research Methods equips students with the ability to design research studies, evaluate academic literature, collect and analyse data, and apply research ethics in computing projects. The programme culminates in an extensive Computing Masters Project involving independent research or industry-based problem solving, resulting in a significant software, system, or research output. Students may also undertake an optional vocational or research internship, gaining valuable professional experience, industry exposure, research skills, and improved career prospects in artificial intelligence and related fields.
