COURSE CURRICULUM

This course provides students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in project management, engineering planning, data analytics and organisational leadership, preparing them for complex projects across multiple industries. The Advanced Project Planning and Visualisation module develops expertise in project scheduling, multi-constraint planning techniques and emerging technologies used in engineering project management, including advanced 4D visualisation methods that improve planning accuracy and communication. Through the Big Data and Business Intelligence module, students learn to design and implement database systems, analytics solutions and data-driven applications that support business objectives while gaining experience in data warehouses, legacy data integration, data management and visualisation tools. The Engineering Research Project enables students to undertake independent research focused on sustainability or clean energy challenges, applying advanced research methods and technical analysis to produce practical and industry-relevant solutions. The Managing Projects with PRINCE2® module introduces one of the world's most recognised project governance frameworks, helping students understand project processes, documentation, terminology and governance practices while developing teamwork skills through simulated projects and group assessments. Procurement and Contract Strategies explores procurement methods, contract management approaches and the legal principles that govern engineering projects in sectors such as construction, oil and gas and heavy civil engineering. Risk Management in Projects provides advanced knowledge of risk identification, qualitative and quantitative analysis, project appraisal methods, probability theory, decision trees and financial risk management while offering practical experience with specialist software tools and industry case studies. Finally, The Management of Change module focuses on business strategy, organisational transformation and people management, equipping students with the skills required to lead change initiatives effectively and support organisations through evolving business environments and strategic transitions.
