COURSE CURRICULUM

This Computer Science programme provides students with a strong combination of theoretical knowledge, practical technical skills, and research expertise in modern computing technologies. The course begins with Artificial Intelligence Foundations, introducing students to key concepts such as knowledge representation, reasoning, problem solving, algorithms, planning, and the development of intelligent systems and AI applications. Students further expand their expertise through Machine Learning, where they explore predictive modelling, statistical analysis, probability theory, learning algorithms, and inference techniques that allow systems to learn from data and make intelligent decisions in dynamic environments. The programme also develops specialist knowledge in Big Data and Business Intelligence, enabling students to design and implement database systems, analytics solutions, and large-scale data applications that support business requirements. Students investigate areas such as data warehouses, big data technologies, data integration, data management, and approaches for modelling and visualising complex datasets. Through Object Oriented Development, students gain a solid foundation in Java programming, learning concepts including classes, objects, inheritance, polymorphism, graphical user interfaces, software design, testing, documentation, and algorithm development. Mobile App Development builds upon these skills by teaching students how to design, develop, and deploy professional Android applications for smartphones and tablets using industry-standard development processes and tools. Research Methods develops students' understanding of academic research, literature evaluation, data collection methods, research ethics, and evidence generation in preparation for independent study. The programme culminates in a substantial Computing Masters Project, where students undertake an in-depth investigation into a commercial, industrial, or research problem and produce a major deliverable such as software, applications, systems, or research findings. Through presentations, demonstrations, and academic reporting, students develop project management, communication, and critical evaluation skills, preparing them for careers in software engineering, artificial intelligence, data analytics, mobile development, and advanced computing industries.
