COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Artificial Intelligence programme provides a strong foundation in AI technologies, machine learning, deep learning, big data, and software development, preparing students for careers in the rapidly growing AI sector. The course begins with Artificial Intelligence Foundations, introducing core concepts such as knowledge representation, reasoning, algorithms, planning, problem solving, and intelligent systems. Artificial Intelligence Ethics and Applications explores the practical use of AI and data science technologies including chatbots, virtual assistants, medical diagnosis, biometric recognition, fraud detection, autonomous systems, and personalisation technologies while examining their ethical, social, and business implications. Big Data and Business Intelligence develops skills in database design, data management, analytics, data warehousing, and visualisation techniques to support data-driven decision making in organisations. Students gain strong programming skills through Software for Digital Innovation, learning Python programming and its application to solving real-world problems using modern software libraries and development tools. The Machine Learning module covers predictive modelling, statistical methods, probability theory, and algorithms that enable computers to learn from data and make intelligent decisions. Deep Learning builds upon these concepts by introducing advanced neural network models used in areas such as computer vision, speech recognition, natural language processing, and image analysis. The programme concludes with the Computing Masters Project, where students undertake an independent research or industry-focused project, producing a substantial software solution, research study, or technical application supported by a professional report and presentation.
