COURSE CURRICULUM

This course is designed for aspiring visual effects artists who want to develop advanced technical and creative skills for careers in film, television, animation, and games production. The programme provides comprehensive training across the visual effects pipeline while allowing students to specialise in areas that match their interests and career ambitions. Through Digital Compositing, students learn how to combine multiple visual elements into seamless final shots using industry-standard techniques and software, while Digital Matte Painting develops the ability to create realistic environments, backgrounds, and digital worlds for use in modern productions. Motion Design focuses on creating engaging visual sequences, graphics, and animated content, helping students understand the principles of movement, timing, and visual communication. The Physical Simulation module introduces advanced techniques for creating realistic effects such as fire, smoke, water, destruction, and particle systems, allowing students to produce the complex simulations commonly used in contemporary visual effects work. Industry Research and Development encourages students to investigate emerging technologies, workflows, and trends shaping the future of the visual effects industry while strengthening their critical thinking and professional awareness. Collaborative working is a central feature of the programme, with both the Group Project and AVFX Group Project providing opportunities to work in multidisciplinary teams on industry-style briefs and short film productions that replicate professional studio environments and workflows. Students gain practical experience using dedicated visual effects studios equipped with industry-standard software alongside access to specialist facilities including motion capture studios, professional camera and grip equipment, green screen facilities, motion-control cameras, and a fully equipped sound stage. Supported by experienced academic staff and strong industry links, graduates leave with advanced technical knowledge, professional experience, and a portfolio of high-quality work that prepares them for careers as compositors, effects artists, technical directors, motion designers, and visual effects specialists in the global creative industries.
