COURSE CURRICULUM

The Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation course is structured over three years and is designed to develop students' clinical knowledge, practical rehabilitation skills, and professional competencies required for careers in sports injury management and rehabilitation. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in clinical anatomy, sports performance analysis, clinical assessment, soft tissue therapies, and professional practice skills, allowing them to understand the assessment and treatment of sports injuries. The second year develops more advanced knowledge in musculoskeletal management, sports rehabilitation, clinical practice, health factors affecting physical activity and sport, and research methods through the design of a research proposal. During the final year, students focus on advanced clinical reasoning, orthopaedics and trauma management, professional development, leadership, business skills, and evidence-based practice while gaining valuable clinical experience in professional environments. Throughout the programme, students develop expertise in injury prevention, rehabilitation techniques, clinical assessment, and patient management using an evidence-based approach supported by current research. Teaching is delivered through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops, laboratory sessions, problem-based learning, and independent research projects using blended learning methods that combine face-to-face teaching with online resources through the university's virtual learning environment. Students benefit from access to industry-standard facilities including sports injury clinics, hydrotherapy pools, biomechanics laboratories, and strength and conditioning suites, preparing them for careers in sport, healthcare, rehabilitation, and private practice.
