COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology course is structured over three years and is designed to progressively develop students' understanding of human behaviour, mental processes, and psychological research. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation in key areas of psychology, including critical thinking, mental health, psychopathology, psychological research methods, and the application of psychology to everyday life and future societal challenges. The second year expands students' knowledge across the core areas of psychology, including biological psychology, cognition, developmental psychology, and individual differences, while exploring how psychology can be applied to address complex real-world issues and unlock human potential. During the final year, students focus on using psychology to create positive change and complete an independent dissertation project that develops their research, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Students also choose from a range of optional modules that allow them to specialise in areas such as positive psychology, clinical psychopathology, neurodevelopmental disorders, cyberpsychology, trauma, health promotion, crime and behaviour, and therapeutic care. Throughout the programme, students develop strong research, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills through active learning and practical research experiences. The course prepares graduates for careers in psychology-related fields, healthcare, education, research, business, human resources, social services, and many other sectors, while also providing a strong foundation for postgraduate study and professional psychology training.
