COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology with Clinical Psychology course is structured over three years and is designed to progressively develop students' understanding of psychological theory, research, and clinical practice. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in critical thinking, mental health, psychopathology, psychological research methods, and the application of psychology to everyday life while gaining an introduction to clinical perspectives across the lifespan. The second year expands students' knowledge across the core areas of psychology, including biological psychology, cognition, developmental psychology, and individual differences, while introducing specialist clinical topics such as the assessment and treatment planning of anxiety and depression. During the final year, students focus on advanced clinical practice concepts, adaptation and evaluation of psychological interventions, and complete an independent psychology dissertation that develops their research, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Students also select from a range of optional modules that allow them to specialise in areas such as clinical psychopathology, neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma, positive psychology, cyberpsychology, health promotion, therapeutic care, and employability-focused learning. Throughout the programme, students develop practical clinical skills through case studies and evidence-based approaches while strengthening their communication, problem-solving, and research abilities. The course prepares graduates for careers in mental health services, healthcare, social care, education, research, and related professions, while also providing a strong foundation for postgraduate training in clinical and practitioner psychology.
