COURSE CURRICULUM

The Physiotherapy course is structured over three years and is designed to progressively develop students' scientific knowledge, clinical skills, and professional competencies required for contemporary physiotherapy practice. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation in evidence-based healthcare, human physiology, functional anatomy, professionalism, and the essential skills required for physiotherapy practice. The second year focuses on developing specialist knowledge and practical skills in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, neurological rehabilitation, cardiovascular and respiratory physiotherapy, and evidence-based rehabilitation approaches. Students also undertake clinical placements to apply their learning in real healthcare environments and gain valuable professional experience. During the final year, students enhance their clinical reasoning, leadership, and service improvement skills while undertaking further clinical placements and an elective placement that allows them to broaden their professional experience and interests. Students also complete an independent dissertation project to strengthen their research, analytical, and evidence-based practice abilities. Throughout the programme, academic study is integrated with extensive practical learning and clinical placements, enabling students to develop the confidence and competence required to work with individuals of all ages affected by illness, injury, disability, or pain. The course prepares graduates to become autonomous and reflective physiotherapists capable of delivering high-quality rehabilitation, health promotion, and patient-centred care across a range of healthcare settings.
