COURSE CURRICULUM

The Pharmacology course is structured over three years and is designed to progressively develop students' understanding of the biological, chemical, and clinical principles underlying the action of medicines and therapeutic interventions. In the first year, students build a strong scientific foundation through the study of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, cell biology, pathology, chemical principles, and the basic mechanisms of drug action. The second year expands this knowledge by introducing clinical pharmacology, immunology, human metabolism, molecular biology, bioinformatics, epidemiology, public health, and bioethics, enabling students to understand both the scientific and societal aspects of medicine development and use. In the final year, students focus on advanced and specialised topics including medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, biologics, health product development, clinical genetics, and the practical application of pharmacology in healthcare and industry settings. Students also complete an independent science research project that strengthens their laboratory, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. Throughout the programme, academic learning is supported by extensive practical laboratory work, data analysis, and research activities, preparing graduates for careers in pharmaceutical research and development, biotechnology, clinical trials, drug safety, regulatory affairs, and postgraduate study.
