COURSE CURRICULUM

The Midwifery course is structured over three years and is designed to develop students into skilled, compassionate, and autonomous midwives capable of delivering high-quality maternity care. In the first year, students build a foundation in maternity science, public health, evidence-based practice, and holistic maternity care while developing communication and clinical skills to assess the health and wellbeing of women, fetuses, and newborns throughout pregnancy and childbirth. The second year focuses on managing more complex maternity care needs, strengthening students' ability to appraise evidence for practice, contribute to holistic care, and address complex public health issues affecting mothers and infants. In the final year, students develop leadership, service improvement, and advanced clinical skills while preparing for independent professional practice. The programme emphasises excellence in maternity care, autonomous decision-making, and the provision of holistic care for both mothers and newborns. Throughout the course, students combine academic study with extensive clinical placements, enabling them to apply theory in real healthcare settings and develop the competence required for professional registration as a midwife.
