COURSE CURRICULUM

The Information Technology course is designed to develop students' technical knowledge and practical skills in designing, implementing, and managing modern IT solutions for businesses and organisations. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through modules including Business Enterprise, Rapid Application Development, Secure Computers and Networks, and Systems Design and Databases, gaining essential knowledge in software development, business processes, cybersecurity, systems design, and database management. During the second year, students expand their expertise by studying AI and Cloud Solutions for Business, IT Systems and Information Security, and Relational and NoSQL Databases, developing skills in cloud technologies, artificial intelligence applications, enterprise security, and modern database systems. They also complete an Enterprise Project that enhances teamwork, communication, project management, and problem-solving abilities by working on real-world business and technology challenges. Students have the opportunity to undertake an optional work placement year, allowing them to gain valuable industry experience, strengthen their professional skills, and apply their academic knowledge in a workplace environment. In the final year, students focus on advanced business technologies through Business Intelligence and Data Visualisation, where they learn to analyse, interpret, and present data to support strategic decision-making, and Client-focused Digital Transformation, which explores how organisations adopt innovative digital solutions to improve business performance and customer experiences. Alongside these modules, students complete a substantial Computing Project that demonstrates their ability to research, design, develop, and evaluate an independent IT solution. Throughout the programme, students progressively develop expertise in software development, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, database technologies, business intelligence, digital transformation, and IT project management while strengthening their analytical, technical, and professional skills. This combination of academic knowledge, practical experience, and industry-focused learning prepares graduates for careers in information technology, systems analysis, business technology, cloud solutions, digital transformation, IT consulting, and a wide range of technology-related professions.
