COURSE CURRICULUM

This cyber security and networks programme is designed to provide students with the technical knowledge, practical expertise and professional skills required to protect digital systems and manage modern network infrastructures. In the first year, students develop a strong computing foundation through modules such as Algorithms and Data Structures, where they study algorithmic techniques, mathematical concepts and the efficient organisation of data for solving complex problems. Computer Technologies and Cyber Security introduces computing technologies, operating systems, network design principles and business network configurations while exploring cybercrime, security risks and the legal, ethical and professional responsibilities of cyber security professionals. Software Development develops programming skills using modern languages while covering solution design, coding, testing, documentation and industry best practices. System Design focuses on systems analysis, requirement gathering, workflow modelling and data modelling to help students create robust and user-friendly applications. In the second year, the Enterprise Challenge module provides valuable experience through teamwork on real business projects for external clients. Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security develops expertise in penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, attack models and the use of industry-standard tools to identify and resolve security weaknesses. Information Security Management explores cryptography, security models, infrastructure protection, compliance requirements and information security techniques required to defend modern organisations. Networks and Server Administration covers network management, account administration, data backup, performance monitoring, software licensing, wireless technologies and the ethical and legal considerations associated with privacy and security. Students also have the option to undertake an industry placement year to gain professional experience, improve employability and strengthen transferable skills such as teamwork, leadership and problem-solving. In the final year, AI for Digital Transformation introduces artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies used to improve business performance and decision-making. Emerging Issues explores global business challenges including sustainability and technological innovation, while the Final Project allows students to undertake independent research and develop practical solutions to real-world cyber security and networking challenges.
