COURSE CURRICULUM

This computer games design course provides students with the creative, technical and professional skills needed to develop engaging and immersive gaming experiences while preparing for careers in the global games industry. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in game development through modules such as Game Asset Creation, where they learn to create 3D models, textures, materials, audio elements and visual effects for game environments. Game Mechanics introduces the principles behind enjoyable and immersive gameplay, helping students understand how mechanics influence player experience while developing design documentation and visual plans to communicate ideas effectively. Game Prototyping focuses on using contemporary game engines to create interactive experiences and functional gameplay demonstrations, while Visual Scripting for Games develops practical skills in implementing gameplay systems, player interactions and game logic through visual programming techniques. During the second year, students work on real-world projects through the Enterprise Challenge module, collaborating with teams to develop solutions for client briefs while gaining experience in project planning, communication and presentation. The Game Development module allows students to specialise in areas of interest and create prototype experiences that can be presented to professional audiences. Game UI/UX explores the design of interfaces and player experiences, covering accessibility, navigation, interface psychology and interactive design using both 2D and 3D tools. Level Design develops an understanding of player motivation, gameplay balance, scripting and inclusivity while teaching students to create engaging and meaningful game environments. In the final year, Beta Release simulates professional game development environments where students collaborate to produce publication-ready game prototypes. Emerging Issues examines technological innovation, sustainability and internationalisation within modern industries, while the Final Project enables students to independently research, design and develop an original project that demonstrates creativity, technical expertise and professional problem-solving abilities.
