COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Science course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of modern computing principles while developing practical skills for software development and emerging technologies. In the first year, students build a strong foundation by studying Algorithmic Problem Solving, Object Oriented Programming, Secure Computers and Networks, and Systems Design and Databases, gaining essential knowledge in programming, software design, cybersecurity, and database management. During the second year, students expand their expertise through modules including Artificial Intelligence, Relational and NoSQL Databases, and Web Apps and Services, while completing an Enterprise Project that develops teamwork, project management, and problem-solving skills by addressing real-world computing challenges. Students also have the opportunity to undertake an optional work placement year, allowing them to gain valuable industry experience, enhance their professional skills, and apply their academic knowledge in a workplace environment. In the final year, the programme focuses on advanced technologies through modules such as Applied Machine Learning and CloudNative DevOps, enabling students to explore intelligent systems, cloud computing, software deployment, automation, and modern development practices. Alongside these advanced subjects, students complete an independent Computing Project, demonstrating their ability to research, design, develop, and evaluate a substantial computing solution. Throughout the course, students progressively develop expertise in programming, software engineering, artificial intelligence, databases, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and web application development while strengthening analytical, technical, and project management skills. This combination of academic knowledge, practical experience, and industry-relevant learning prepares graduates for careers in software development, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, systems analysis, data engineering, and a wide range of computing and technology-related professions.
