The Electrical and Electronic Engineering course is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of electrical, electronic, and embedded systems while developing the technical and practical skills required for professional engineering careers. In the first year, students establish a strong engineering foundation through modules including Electrical Principles, Electronic Principles, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Practice, Physics and Instrumentation, and PLCs and Embedded Systems. These modules introduce the fundamental concepts of electrical circuits, electronic devices, engineering mathematics, practical engineering techniques, physics, instrumentation, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and embedded system design. During the second year, students build on this knowledge by studying Digital Electronics Design, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Communications, Integral Transforms and Matrices, Machines, and Multidisciplinary Software and Systems. These subjects develop expertise in digital system design, electrical power engineering, industrial communication networks, advanced mathematical methods, electrical machines, and integrated hardware and software systems used in modern engineering applications. Students also have the opportunity to undertake an optional work placement year, enabling them to gain valuable industry experience, apply their technical knowledge in a professional environment, and enhance their employability. In the final year, the programme focuses on advanced engineering topics through Electric Drives, Industrial Electronics, Power Systems, and Sustainable Systems and Industry 4.0, where students explore motor control technologies, industrial electronic systems, electrical power generation and distribution, sustainable engineering solutions, smart manufacturing, automation, and Industry 4.0 technologies. Students also complete an independent Project that demonstrates their ability to research, design, develop, analyse, and evaluate a substantial electrical or electronic engineering solution while strengthening their project management and professional engineering skills. Throughout the programme, students progressively develop expertise in electrical engineering, electronics, embedded systems, industrial communications, automation, power systems, digital design, instrumentation, and sustainable technologies while enhancing their analytical, technical, communication, and problem-solving abilities. This combination of academic knowledge, practical laboratory experience, industry-focused learning, and optional workplace experience prepares graduates for careers in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, automation, robotics, telecommunications, embedded systems, power generation and distribution, manufacturing, and a wide range of engineering and technology-related professions.
