COURSE CURRICULUM
The Aerospace Engineering course is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of aircraft design, engineering principles, and aerospace technologies while developing the practical and analytical skills required for professional engineering careers. In the first year, students establish a strong engineering foundation through modules including Aircraft Principles, Electrical Principles (AC/DC), Engineering Mathematics, Materials and Sustainability, Structural Mechanics, and Thermofluids. These modules introduce the fundamental concepts of aircraft operation, electrical engineering, mathematical analysis, engineering materials, structural behaviour, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and sustainable engineering practices. During the second year, students build on this knowledge by studying Aeroengines and Rocket Science, Aircraft Performance and Stability, Aircraft Structures, Avionics and Aircraft Systems, Dynamic Analysis and Aeroelasticity, and Integral Transforms and Matrices. These subjects develop expertise in propulsion systems, aircraft performance, flight stability, aerospace structures, aircraft electronic systems, vibration and aeroelastic behaviour, and advanced mathematical techniques used in engineering analysis. Students also have the opportunity to undertake an optional work placement year, enabling them to gain valuable industry experience, apply their technical knowledge in a professional environment, and enhance their employability. In the final year, the programme focuses on advanced aerospace engineering through Aerospace Materials Analysis, Analysis of Aerodynamics, Electric Power Systems, and Flight Dynamics and Control, where students explore advanced materials, aerodynamic performance, aircraft electrical systems, flight control, and aircraft dynamics. Students also complete an independent engineering Project, allowing them to research, design, analyse, and evaluate a substantial aerospace engineering solution while demonstrating their technical, analytical, and project management capabilities. Throughout the programme, students progressively develop expertise in aerodynamics, propulsion, aircraft structures, avionics, flight dynamics, electrical systems, engineering mathematics, materials science, and sustainable engineering while strengthening their problem-solving, communication, and professional engineering skills. This combination of academic knowledge, practical learning, advanced technical training, and optional industry experience prepares graduates for careers in aerospace engineering, aviation, aircraft design, manufacturing, defence, research, maintenance, and a wide range of engineering-related professions. Modules offered may vary.
