COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Business Management course at Teesside University provides a practical and future-focused education designed to prepare students for leadership and management roles in a rapidly changing global business environment. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in business principles through modules such as Business Enterprise, How to be a Responsible Leader, Organisational Performance and Strategy, and The Future of Work. These modules develop an understanding of entrepreneurship, ethical leadership, organisational effectiveness and the impact of technological and societal changes on modern workplaces. During the second year, students enhance their professional and strategic capabilities through Consultancy in Practice, Operating Globally, Social Media Management and The Future of You. These subjects provide valuable experience in solving real business challenges, understanding international markets, managing digital communication strategies and developing personal and professional skills for future careers. Students also have the opportunity to undertake an optional work placement year, gaining practical industry experience, improving employability and building professional networks. In the final year, the course focuses on advanced strategic thinking and innovation through modules including Future Proofing Business and Reimagining the Future of Business and Society, encouraging students to explore sustainable business practices, emerging technologies and the future direction of organisations and global economies. The programme culminates in a Final Project, allowing students to undertake independent research and apply their knowledge to a significant business issue. Throughout the degree, students develop essential transferable skills such as communication, leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making, alongside an understanding of responsible and sustainable business management.
