COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Nursing Mental Health program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and professional competencies needed to become registered mental health nurses and deliver high-quality care in diverse clinical settings. In the first year, core modules such as Fundamentals of Nursing, Nursing Sciences, and Evaluating Research Methodologies offer a strong foundation in essential nursing principles, mental health theory, and evidence-based practice. Placement Part 2 gives students hands-on clinical experience, enabling them to apply theoretical learning to real-world patient care and develop practical competence under supervision. In the second year, modules such as Creating Original Practice and Nursing Leadership focus on advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and leadership development, preparing students to manage complex care, influence practice improvements, and lead multidisciplinary teams. Placement Part 3 allows students to consolidate their clinical skills and confidence in handling challenging mental health scenarios. Ronc Pr Evaluating Complexity in Practice enhances the ability to assess and respond to complex situations, while the Psrb One Credit Module ensures adherence to professional regulatory standards. Throughout the program, students engage with research, reflective practice, and ethical decision-making, developing analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Graduates emerge ready for careers as competent, confident mental health nurses, able to provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care.
