COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the brain, cognition, and behaviour across the lifespan, integrating theory with practical research applications. The program covers essential principles of cognitive neuroscience, exploring how perception, attention, memory, and decision-making are shaped by neural mechanisms. Students gain expertise in experimental design, research methods, and statistical analysis, learning to apply clinical approaches to neuroscience research through modules such as applications of clinical methods, electrophysiology, and neuron to neuropathology. The course also addresses clinical neuro-psychopharmacology, giving insight into how drugs affect brain function and behaviour, and emphasises research ethics to ensure responsible practice in experimental and clinical settings. Perception and cognition across the lifespan is explored in detail, highlighting developmental and age-related changes in cognitive processes. Students undertake a substantial dissertation project, enabling them to conduct original research, interpret complex data, and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The curriculum equips graduates with the practical and theoretical expertise required for careers in clinical research, neuropsychology, healthcare, and academia, preparing them to contribute to understanding brain function, cognitive processes, and neurological or psychiatric disorders in both research and applied settings.
