COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Games program is designed to prepare students for professional careers in the gaming industry by combining practical expertise with creative and critical thinking. The course centers on the development of technical skills, conceptual knowledge, and professional practice through a series of integrated modules. Students undertake the Creative Media Masters Project, a comprehensive capstone project that allows them to develop a substantial, self-directed game or interactive media project, showcasing their creativity and technical competence. The Games Industry Project provides an opportunity to work on real-world challenges, simulating professional environments and collaborating with peers to produce industry-standard outputs. The Individual Portfolio Project supports students in refining their skills and assembling a professional portfolio that demonstrates their abilities to potential employers or collaborators. Core theoretical and practical foundations are provided through modules such as Principles of Game Design and Development, where students explore game mechanics, storytelling, user experience, and development workflows. Research and Development Proposal modules enable students to plan and critically evaluate their projects, fostering analytical skills and strategic thinking. Across the program, students gain experience in project management, creative problem solving, and professional communication, ensuring they graduate with a strong portfolio, industry-ready skills, and the confidence to succeed in roles such as game designer, developer, producer, or other creative positions within the interactive media sector.
