COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Fine Art program is structured to develop students’ artistic practice through a series of immersive, research-driven modules that span the course of 12 months. In the first module, Thinking and Form: Establishing Ecologies of Practice in Residence, students focus on building the foundations of their creative practice, exploring the interconnections between ideas, materials, and contexts while situating their work within broader artistic and cultural frameworks. The second module, When Ideas Become Form: Art Attitudes, Sites of Practice and Research, emphasizes the translation of conceptual thinking into practical and tangible outcomes, encouraging experimentation, critical reflection, and the development of a distinctive artistic voice. The final module, Your Work in Public: Realisation, Expanded Exhibition and Dissemination, guides students through the processes of presenting their work to diverse audiences, managing exhibitions, and engaging with professional networks, fostering an understanding of public engagement and dissemination in the arts. Throughout the program, students are supported by mentoring, peer collaboration, and critical feedback, which cultivates independence, technical skill, and conceptual depth. By the conclusion of the course, graduates possess a mature, research-informed body of work, along with the professional skills and confidence required to pursue careers as practicing artists, curators, educators, or other creative professionals, fully prepared to navigate the contemporary art world.
