COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Design (Packaging) program is designed to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and creative mindset to address contemporary challenges in packaging design through ethical, sustainable, and innovative solutions. The course emphasizes the development of a professional design identity, encouraging students to critically engage with the environmental, social, and cultural impacts of packaging while exploring practical and conceptual approaches to design. The Creative Design and Positionality module provides students with the opportunity to reflect on their creative values, practice, and professional positioning within the wider design industry, fostering a strong foundation for independent and collaborative work. Methods for Research and Practice introduces essential research techniques and methodologies, allowing students to investigate user needs, market contexts, and design trends to inform and support their creative decisions. In the Design Lab: Synthesis and Manifesto (Packaging) module, students integrate research and practice to develop a major project that demonstrates conceptual originality, technical proficiency, and practical application in packaging design. The program encourages experimentation, critical thinking, and cross-disciplinary collaboration, enabling students to create innovative and impactful solutions. By completing the course, graduates will be prepared to pursue professional careers in packaging design, product development, branding, and related creative industries, with a strong portfolio demonstrating their expertise and creative vision.
