COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Design (Interaction) program offers a comprehensive and practice-led approach to understanding how people interact with design, technology, and their environments. Through a combination of creativity, research, and critical reflection, students develop the ability to design meaningful, user-centered experiences that address complex social, cultural, and environmental challenges. The course consists of three compulsory modules, each worth 60 credits. Creative Design and Positionality helps students define their personal design philosophy, exploring their creative identity, ethics, and purpose as a designer. The Methods for Research and Practice module focuses on developing advanced research techniques and practical methodologies essential for investigating user behavior, design processes, and interactive systems. In the Design Lab: Synthesis and Manifesto (Interaction) module, students apply their learning in a major design project, integrating research, creative experimentation, and critical analysis to produce innovative and impactful outcomes. Throughout the program, collaboration and interdisciplinary learning are encouraged, allowing students to experiment across media, technology, and design contexts. Graduates complete the course with a strong research-informed portfolio and the professional skills needed for careers in interaction design, user experience (UX), service design, and other emerging creative industries that bridge design, technology, and human experience.
