COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Design (Design for Health) curriculum is structured around three core modules that blend creative exploration, research, and professional practice. In *Creative Design and Positionality* (60 credits), students examine their personal design perspectives and values while exploring how positionality influences design outcomes, especially within health and wellbeing contexts. This module encourages reflection on ethical responsibility and the social impact of design practice. The *Design Lab: Synthesis and Manifesto (Design for Health)* (60 credits) allows students to apply their creative and critical thinking to real-world health challenges, developing innovative and human-centered design solutions. Through hands-on experimentation and collaboration, students formulate a personal manifesto that defines their approach to design for health. *Methods for Research and Practice* (60 credits) equips students with advanced research skills and methodologies essential for design innovation. It focuses on qualitative and participatory approaches, helping students effectively gather insights and evaluate the impact of their designs. Together, these modules foster a deep understanding of design’s role in promoting health equity, sustainability, and social change. The program develops reflective, research-driven designers capable of contributing meaningfully to interdisciplinary health and wellbeing projects in global and local contexts.
