COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM Legal Practice Development (SQE Preparation) program is structured to provide a strong foundation in both theoretical knowledge and practical legal skills. The compulsory modules focus on key areas required for legal practice and success in the Solicitors Qualifying Examination. Advocacy, Drafting and Legal Reasoning develops essential skills in constructing legal arguments and presenting cases, and is assessed entirely through examinations. Interviewing and Legal Writing and Research enhances students’ ability to communicate effectively with clients, conduct legal research, and produce professional legal documents, with assessment split between exams and practical work. In addition to the core modules, students can choose from elective options to tailor their learning experience. The Legal Work Experience module offers hands-on exposure through practical engagement, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world legal settings and strengthen their professional skills. Alternatively, students may opt for an LLM Dissertation, which focuses on independent research and critical analysis of a specific legal topic. All elective modules are assessed through coursework. Overall, the program balances academic rigor with practical training, ensuring that students are well prepared for both the SQE assessments and a successful career in the legal profession.
