COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Sports Therapy program is a comprehensive four-year course designed to develop students’ knowledge, practical skills, and professional competence in sports therapy. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Coaching Sport and Physical Activity, Introduction to Clinical Assessment, Introduction to Sports Therapy Management, and Scientific Principles for Sport, combining scientific theory with practical skills in assessment and management. The second year develops applied expertise through modules including Assessment and Treatment of Musculoskeletal Injuries, Principles and Practice of Sports Rehabilitation, and Optimising Wellbeing, while a range of elective modules allow students to explore areas such as exercise prescription, technology in sport, performance testing, and alternative physical activities. The third year includes a sandwich placement, providing real-world professional experience and opportunities to apply learning in sports organisations, clinics, and performance environments. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through Applied Practice in Sports Therapy, Professional Practice in Sports Therapy, and an Independent Project in Sport and Physical Activity, alongside electives covering talent development, coaching, health promotion, nutrition, psychology, performance analysis, media, and entrepreneurship. The program emphasises evidence-based practice, critical thinking, ethical decision-making, reflective practice, and professional communication, equipping graduates to pursue careers in sports therapy, rehabilitation, athletic performance support, health and fitness, or further postgraduate study in clinical and sports settings.
