COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Sport and Exercise Science program is a four-year course designed to provide students with the knowledge, practical skills, and scientific expertise needed to apply sport and exercise principles in real-world contexts. In the first year, students build foundational understanding through modules such as Coaching Sport and Physical Activity, Scientific Principles for Health, Scientific Principles for Sport, and The Impact of Sport and Physical Activity, covering the fundamentals of physiology, biomechanics, psychology, and the social effects of physical activity. The second year expands this knowledge with Applied Sport and Exercise Science, Multidisciplinary Approaches to Sport and Exercise, and Optimising Wellbeing, alongside a wide range of elective modules including event management, technology in sport, exercise prescription, and study abroad opportunities, allowing students to develop applied skills and experience in diverse contexts. The third year includes a sandwich placement, providing practical industry experience and exposure to professional practice. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through the Independent Project in Sport and Physical Activity, Interdisciplinary Approaches to Sport and Exercise Science, and further electives covering areas such as talent development, performance analysis, nutrition, coaching, health promotion, exercise prescription, sport data analytics, and sport media. The program emphasizes critical thinking, research skills, ethical practice, and professional development, equipping graduates for careers in sport and exercise science, coaching, health and fitness, performance analysis, rehabilitation, or further postgraduate study.
