COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Economics and Finance program equips students with a solid foundation in economic theory, quantitative analysis, and financial principles, preparing them for careers in the global financial sector. In the first year, students gain essential skills through modules in principles of micro and macroeconomics, maths for economics, data analytics for finance and business, and investment risk and taxation. These modules focus on developing analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, enabling students to understand financial systems and economic behaviour. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge with modules such as economic analysis and policy, economics of risk and return, and introduction to econometrics, while elective options like banking and fintech, cash management and treasury, and study abroad opportunities provide exposure to practical applications and international perspectives. The third year typically involves an undergraduate sandwich placement, giving students valuable work experience in professional financial or economic settings and applying theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics, including behavioural economics, contemporary issues in finance, investment management and derivatives, and a consultancy project, allowing them to develop critical thinking, strategic decision-making, and applied research skills. This combination of academic study, practical experience, and exposure to contemporary financial challenges ensures graduates are well-prepared for careers in finance, consultancy, economic analysis, policy-making, and other quantitative, analytical, and decision-focused roles.
