COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Data Science program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of data analysis, computational methods, and artificial intelligence, preparing them for careers across diverse industries. In the first year, students build foundational skills through modules in applied data analysis, essentials of data science and AI, mathematical and statistical methods, and proof and reasoning, combining theoretical understanding with practical applications. In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced techniques, including algorithms and data structures, artificial intelligence and machine learning, handling data in cloud systems, and statistical theory and modelling, equipping students with the tools to manage and interpret large datasets and develop data-driven solutions. The third year includes a sandwich placement, offering hands-on industry experience that allows students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, gain professional skills, and understand workplace expectations. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a development project, programming for artificial intelligence, ethics in data science and AI, and advanced machine learning, emphasizing both technical expertise and responsible, ethical application of data science. The program integrates analytical reasoning, programming, and AI techniques, preparing graduates for roles in sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, business analytics, and research, or for further postgraduate study in data science and related fields.
