COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Cyber Security program provides students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to tackle modern digital threats and secure information systems. In the first year, students gain foundational understanding of computer systems and networks, programming, cryptography, and core cyber security principles while also developing professional skills for employability. The second year builds on these fundamentals with advanced study in secure network services, database administration, ethical hacking, and intrusion detection, alongside project-based learning that encourages hands-on problem-solving and teamwork. Elective options, including study abroad, allow students to broaden their perspectives and understand global approaches to cyber security. The third year incorporates a sandwich placement, giving students real-world industry experience, enabling them to apply academic knowledge to practical cyber security challenges, and preparing them for professional roles. In the final year, students engage with advanced topics such as penetration testing, information security management, enterprise applications management, and specialised electives including blockchain and IoT security, network security, and offensive forensics. The program emphasizes ethical practice, risk management, and critical thinking, ensuring graduates are equipped to work effectively in sectors including cyber security, digital forensics, information assurance, and network protection, and to adapt to the rapidly evolving demands of technology-driven environments.
