COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Sport, Exercise and Health program is a four-year course designed to develop students’ expertise in applying sport, exercise, and physical activity to enhance health and wellbeing across the lifespan. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge through modules such as Coaching Sport and Physical Activity, Scientific Principles for Health, Scientific Principles for Sport, and The Impact of Sport and Physical Activity, learning the scientific, physiological, and social principles underpinning physical activity and health. The second year builds on this foundation with modules including Living Well with Long-Term Health Conditions, Optimising Wellbeing, and Physical Activity and Public Health, alongside a variety of elective modules such as event management, technology, and study abroad opportunities, allowing students to apply scientific principles in diverse contexts and develop practical skills. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through Exercise for Rehabilitation and Management of Health, an Independent Project in Sport and Physical Activity, and elective modules covering coaching, talent development, performance analysis, nutrition, sport psychology, injury management, media, and entrepreneurship. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice, research skills, ethical decision-making, and communication, equipping graduates to pursue careers in health promotion, exercise science, community health, rehabilitation, coaching, or further postgraduate study, making a meaningful impact on individual and population wellbeing.
