COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Radiotherapy and Oncology program is a three-year course designed to prepare students for professional practice as therapeutic radiographers, combining theoretical study with practical experience to develop the knowledge and skills required to deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered cancer care. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge through modules such as Collaboration for Individual and Community Wellbeing, Personal and Professional Development, Ronc Oncology, Radiotherapy and Technology 1 and 2, alongside the first competence in practice placement. This year focuses on understanding oncology principles, radiotherapy techniques, and professional behaviors while introducing students to clinical practice. The second year builds on this foundation with modules including Assessing and Addressing Complexity in Practice, Evidence and Enquiry for Practice, Ronc Oncology, Radiotherapy and Technology 3 and 4, and the second competence in practice placement. Students develop practical skills, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based approaches to care, enabling them to manage more complex treatment scenarios. In the third year, the program emphasizes leadership, advanced practice, and professional development through modules such as Complexity and Leadership in Professional Practice, Ronc Oncology, Radiotherapy and Technology 5, Ronc Supportive Cancer Care, The Advancing Professional, and the final competence in practice placement. Graduates are fully prepared to register as therapeutic radiographers, deliver high-quality radiotherapy, support patients throughout their cancer journey, and contribute to multidisciplinary oncology teams.
