COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Honours) Physical Education and School Sport program is a comprehensive course designed to prepare students to inspire and educate young people through physical education and sport. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience, enabling students to develop expertise in teaching, coaching, and promoting health and wellbeing. In the first year, students build foundational skills through modules such as Foundations of Coaching and Teaching, Foundations of Professional Practice in Physical Education and School Sport, The Nature and Purpose of Physical Education and Sport Coaching, and The Science of Physical Education and Sport Coaching. The second year focuses on developing practical pedagogy, professional practice, and scientific understanding of health and physical activity, alongside opportunities to choose elective modules such as sports analysis, event management, alternative physical activities, and sport as a tool for social change.In the final year, students consolidate learning through an independent project, study of physical education spaces and social change, and additional electives such as talent development, coach education, sport psychology, performance analysis, nutrition, and sport data analytics. The program emphasizes leadership, reflective practice, and innovation, preparing graduates to work effectively in schools, community programs, and the wider sport and physical activity sector, promoting engagement, inclusion, and lifelong participation in physical activity.
